This article covers the basics of optimising your images, or at least the underlying code to score better results with the search engines.
Firstly, as I just mentioned it is the html code that you need to look at, not the image itself. Google and the other search engines can not read images to identify whether they contain text or images that will boost your rankings, they can only go by the underlying code. This includes the alt text, title text, and image name.

I have recently written an SEO article about how to optimise your title tag to achieve a high search result position but just having a good search position isn’t necessarily the be all and end all. If you have a site that sells something then you might want to consider using your title for marketing as this is often what the search engines display as the link for users to click on in search engine results.
